Rainmail Chat Server allows users to communicate with other users in real time using
- Instant Messaging
- Audio/Video Conferencing (A/V conferencing)
Your Rainmail Administrator can enable chat and/or A/V conferencing facility to specific users. Rainmail Groupware consists of built-in chat and A/V conferencing modules.
- For Instant Messaging, users have the option to use:
- The Text-IM web-based chat module that is built into Rainmail Groupware. With this option, users need not download and install a separate chat client. Once enabled, users can login using their Rainmail username and password and access the chat facility.
- The Pidgin chat client that is included with the Rainmail server. With this option users need to download, install and configure the chat client. Once configured, users can use the client to chat/send instant messages/conference with other users of the system.
- For Audio/Video conferencing, users can access conferencing facility through the Conference module built into Rainmail Groupware. Downloading of additional client software is not required.
